Department of Biochemistry is at the heart of this University and provides a feather to the University by offering tremendous potential in basic as well as applied sciences. Department of Biochemistry, Central University of Rajasthan came into existence in July 2012 under the School of Life Sciences. Course curriculm is alligned with education, research and innovation to warrant efficient addressal of societal needs and at same time ensuring employment of skilled graduates for nation building. This learning would develop their reasoning power and train them for career in research as well as to qualify various national and international level examinations. Students have opportunity to present innovative research proposal in the department research actvity. This will provide training to students to accquire scientific skills and personality development. The department also envisions extending in the field of biochemical broad areas which includes Cancer Biology, Host-pathogen interaction, Infectious Diseases, Drug Discovery, Vaccine design, Plant Biology and Nanobiotechnology. The department is boosted by highly qualified talented faculties with PhD training from prestigious Institutions/Universities like All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur; University of Hyderabad; Banaras Hindu University; Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Jawaharlal Nehru University, RMIT University, Australlia. The research activity of the department has been supported by various funding agencies (i.e., Indo-Russia, Indo-Germany, DST, DBT, UGC, CSIR, ICMR). Research output of the department has been recognised by various national academy like Indian National Science Academy (INSA-Young Scientist Award), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR-Award), National Academy Agricultural Science (NAAS-Young Scientist Award), and Indian Science Congress etc. The master students of the department have been qualified various national level examinations like CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, GATE etc and pursuing higher studies in various national ( IISc,IGIB, AIIMS, CCMB, IMTech, IITs, NCCS, JNCSAR, CDFD etc) and international institutes ( e.g., USA, Germany, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan, Netherlands). Department offers Int. M.Sc. five years, M.Sc. 2 years and Ph.D. and student get admitted through all India basis CUET examinations. Our classrooms are well equipped with modern facilities for teaching which includes LED projector, white board, regular board and digital board. Our laboratory is equipped with various instruments needed for the basic and applied research which includes multimode plate reader, centrifuge, incubator, nanodrop spectrophotometer, deep fridge (-800C, -1500C), Laminar hoods, Ice machine, BSL-2 cabinets, Compound and Inverted microscopes, and facilty for animal cell culture, bacterial cell culture and bioinformatics work.
In brief, students are equipped with highly advanced research oriented learning through a well-designed course curriculum and teachings given by exceptionally qualified and committed faculty trained in reputed national and international institutes. Faculty members having diverse research and teaching expertise both in health and plant sciences show right directions to students/scholars for various societal needs. Research based training along with research publications supported by well-established faculty laboratories enriched with extramural funding promotes students to get opportunity for higher studies in various reputed national and international institutes.
