The department of Yoga at the Central University of Rajasthan was established in 2017 under the School of Education. The objectives of the department are to explore and propagate the therapeutic benefits of yoga through academic training, research activities and clinical services. The department provides yoga therapy services to University staff and enthusiastic students. Currently, the department has two regular faculties and Dr Sanjib Kumar Patra is the Head of the department.
M. Sc. Yoga Therapy (2 years Program)
Yoga is a discipline of the ancient Indian Knowledge system. One of its dimensions is health promotion and disease prevention. Yoga has many physical, physiological and psychological benefits that help to maintain a healthy body and mind. In recent years, yoga has gained popularity for its therapeutic benefits in numerous chronic health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, cancer, anxiety, depression etc.The yoga therapy program is designed to train the students in Yoga therapy for combating the chronic health issues.
M.Sc. Yoga Therapy eligibility
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline of Science and Yoga with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate from a recognized University. Up to 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.

Considering the expertise of the faculties, the Yoga department offers a full-time doctorate degree program (PhD in Yogic Science) in the upfront areas like,

Currently, the department has the following laboratories
- Teaching Laboratory
The teaching laboratory in the Yoga department has the state of the facilities such as Anatomy models, charts, and the physiological kits to record the vital parameters of the body
- Autonomic Laboratory
Currently, the department has 4 channels BIOPAC-INC to record the physiological parameters such as ECG, HR, RR, and GSR.
- Body composition Laboratory
The department has a body mass analyzer to record a variety of parameters including BMI, BMR, RMR, Lean body mass, fat body mass etc.
- Currently the department has a Post-Doc funded project of 8.5 Lakhs from ICSSR (2021-23) titled ‘Enhancement of Scientific creativity using Yoga as a tool’
- Department has a women scientist project of 10 Lakhs from DST (2019-22) titled ‘Efficacy of Integrated yoga module on Obesity and related metabolic syndromes’
