सामाजिक कार्य विभाग इसकी स्थापना (2012) के बाद से अकादमिक और क्षेत्र आधारित प्रथाओं में सक्रिय रूप से शामिल है। यह सहभागी, समावेशी और टिकाऊ विकास की दिशा में काम करने का प्रयास करता है। विभाग समाज के भीतर अधिकतम मानव क्षमता, कौशल विकास, समान अवसर, न्याय, विविधता के प्रति सम्मान और भेदभाव विरोधी वातावरण को बढ़ावा देने में विश्वास करता है। विभाग बनाने का प्रयास करता है: वैश्विक रूप से सक्षम, सामाजिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण और स्थानीय रूप से प्रासंगिक प्रशिक्षित कर्मियों। विभाग के कार्य में पहले चार क्षेत्रों को शामिल किया गया है, जिसमें शिक्षण सतत विकास के लिए शिक्षा प्रदान करने के आदर्श वाक्य के साथ अकादमिक डिग्री प्रदान करना शामिल है। दूसरा अभ्यास है जिसमें प्रोग्रामेटिक हस्तक्षेप और क्षेत्र प्रयोगशालाओं द्वारा सिद्धांत को सिद्धांत में एकीकृत करना शामिल है। तीसरा शोध है जिसमें अनुभवजन्य कार्य और सबूत के आधार पर छात्रों के शोध प्रबंध शामिल हैं। चौथा क्षेत्र फील्ड एक्शन प्रोजेक्ट को कवर करने वाला विस्तार है।

 

Master of Social Work (MSW)

  • The students would also be able to analyze the problems through critical understanding of the situation and facilitate appropriate measures through social work intervention.
  • The student would develop the knowledge and skills of working with diverse groups of population in various set-ups like, communities, schools, institutions, organizations, industries and hospitals.
  • This program envisages enabling the students to work as independent social work professionals in various demanding situations. Therefore, the students across the country would be able to understand the wider cultural context and be able to design, develop, and practice program that are contextual and culturally appropriate.
  • The syllabus of the MSW is designed and developed keeping in view the international standards and professional ethics that would give wider understanding about the basic human rights, equal opportunity, the developmental needs, sustainability of the environment, and services for the people living at different cultural context to facilitate healthy living and well-being.

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor's degree from any recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for general category and 45% or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates

Ph. D. in Social Work

  • Highlighting the emerging needs of the society, exploring, analysing the new areas of social living and interaction.
  • Promote research on various areas of social work practice and interventions.  
  • Strengthening the theoretical perspective, knowledge base of social work.

Computer Laboratory:

A computer laboratory is available with internet facility for the students of Social work (presently sharing with department of Culture and Media Studies). There are 24 computers for the students, which are mainly used for the Dissertation/ research work by the masters’ students and research scholars. 

Fieldwork:

Fieldwork is the signature pedagogy in social work learning. In every semester the students are placed for concurrent fieldwork (two days in a week) or block fieldwork (minimum one month).The students also pursue summer placement during the summer break. The research dissertation in MSW programme is based on empirical data that require collection of data form the primary source through extensive fieldwork. Similarly, in Ph D programme during and after the coursework, the research scholars undertake fieldwork and subsequently collect data as per the demand of the research proposal from different, institutional, organizational or community settings. 

The students of social work are regularly engaged in the field work practicum that is an integral component social work curriculum. As part of the same the students are placed in various Organizations, Institutions and in communities. There are number of NGOs where the students are placed as part of concurrent, summer or block placement (fieldwork). Few of the important NGOs are:

For two semesters the students of social work are send for fieldwork in the nearby villages to work on various issues and design programme and conduct intervention as needed. As part of learning, residential rural camps are also organised for the students.

The doctoral students of Social Work collect the data form different institutional, organizational settings like, hospitals, schools, child care centres, government departments, industries, from the community as per the topic of the research.

  • National Workshop on Elderly Care titled “Active Aging in 21st Century: Challenges, Concerns and Opportunities across Multiple Stakeholders”, conducted in September 2018, funded by National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi
