The Department of Data Science and Analytics at the Central University of Rajasthan is dedicated to fostering excellence in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of Data Science. Our aim is to equip students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge, enabling them to interpret and utilise the vast streams of scientific, social, and financial data generated every second. We aim to be a vibrant research hub, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in data analysis and utilisation.

Our department officially launched in August 2018, but our story actually began earlier, in 2016. That's when we partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to introduce the MSc CS (Big Data Analytics) program. It was the first step in our journey towards building a department focused on data science education.

This collaboration continued till 2020 and since then the dept has started working independently. MSc CS (Big Data Analytics) program marked a significant milestone in our journey, blending industry expertise with academic rigour.

M.Sc. in Computer Science (Big Data Analytics)

 

Launched in 2016 through a pioneering collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), M.Sc. Computer Science (Big Data Analytics) is designed to train students in the burgeoning field of Data Science and prepare them for careers in the rapidly expanding domain of data analytics.

Curriculum and Structure: The curriculum is rooted in the three foundational pillars of Data Science: Computer Science, Statistics, and Mathematics, ensuring a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach. The program extends over two years, divided into four semesters, with the final semester dedicated to project work, ideally within a relevant industry setting.

Industry Integration and Internship Opportunities: Efforts are ongoing to extend internship possibilities to other leading companies engaged in data science and analytics. In semester IV, each student has to carry out an internship-based project/research projects.

Eligibility Criterion

  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics in the 12th Standard.
  • The candidate must hold an undergraduate degree with Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science as a core subject in each semester from a UGC-recognised university.
  • In Graduation, the candidate must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grade for the Unreserved category and at least 45% marks or equivalent grade for the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD).

 

Ph.D. in Computer Science (Data Science and Analytics)

Program Overview: The Ph.D. program in Data Science & Analytics at the Central University of Rajasthan is designed for advanced research in the field. It aims to develop scholars who can contribute significantly in the area of Data Science, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in big data analysis, machine learning, and statistical methods.

Research Objectives: The program encourages interdisciplinary research, with a focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, computational statistics, signal processing and machine learning. Candidates are expected to undertake groundbreaking research that can be applied to real-world problems. 

Admission Requirements and Eligibility: A consistently good academic record possessing a Master's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering/ Computer Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Information Technology or in a cognate / allied subject with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates.
