Department of Economics, established in the year 2010, currently offers four programs i.e. M.A. Economics, Integrated M.Sc. Economics, Integrated M.Sc. B.Ed. and Ph.D. Economics. The objective of the program is to equip the students with theories and tools of economic analysis in major areas of its application. 

The department focuses on theoretical and quantitative analysis in its curriculum. The main objective of the master's program is to equip the students with theories and tools of economic analysis in major areas of its application and focus on the emerging area of Environmental Economics. The department aims to enable the students to understand the principles, theories, and applications of microeconomics, macroeconomics, public economics, development economics, international economics, and monetary economics and to develop multidisciplinary skills among the students to tackle the complex environmental and economic issues.

M. A. Economics (2 Years)

Program Objectives

  1. To enable the students to understand the principles, theories, and applications of microeconomics, macroeconomics, public economics, development economics, international economics, Environment economics, and monetary economics to conduct academic research in areas having socio-economic, environment, money, and finance.
  2. To develop multidisciplinary skills among the students to deal with policy-related issues
  3. To train the students to apply mathematical methods and econometric tools to understand the interaction between the variables.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in Economics as one of the subjects from any recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for general category and 45% or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates

Integrated M. Sc. Economics (5 Years)

Program Objective

The objective of the Integrated M.Sc. The economics program is to impart students rigorous and hands-on training in Economics, with special emphasis on analytical and problem-solving skills, and in-depth understanding of the theoretical and empirical construct in the field of Economics. This will make the students acquire a level of subject knowledge, enabling them to achieve high-quality skills suitable for various professions, especially in the field of data analysis and economic policymaking. The program aims to give them a professional character and enable students to participate usefully in industry and research jobs.

Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent of any recognized board in India with Economics and mathematics or mathematics as one of the optional subjects having 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for general category and 45% or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates

Integrated M. Sc. B.E d. Economics (3 Years)

Program Objective

•The M.Sc. Bed Programme is intended to enable the students to understand the principles, theories, and applications of both disciplines of economics and education

•To develop classroom teaching skills and pedagogy of economics education

•To apply the economic concepts and tools to the research in the economics and education field

Student Intake =30

Eligibility: B.Sc./B.A./BBA Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University with minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for general category and 45% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates with Economics as one of the main subjects.

Ph. D. in Economics

Program Objective

The Ph.D. The program is intended to provide the highest level of training in economics through coursework and thesis; strengthen teaching and research capacity. It aims to build a community of scholars who can identify upcoming economic issues, direct the development of relevant data and provide leadership to master’ students. The Programme integrates theory, tools, and applications into academic teaching, ensuring that the theory is firmly grounded on the empirical side.

Eligibility: A Consistently good academic record possessing a Master's Degree in the subject concerned or in a cognate/allied with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized university at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, 5% relaxation in the minimum requirement of marks is granted to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates.
