The Department of Environmental Science came into existence under the School of Earth Sciences at the Central University of Rajasthan in July 2011. The Master's programme in Environmental Science was started as the department's flagship program with immediate effect. In the following Academic year, 2013-2014, Integrated M.Sc. (5-year program) and full-time PhD programmes were introduced in the department. All the programmes follow the Choice-based Credit System (CBCS) consists of core and elective courses. Students' evaluation consists of continuous assessment throughout the semester.

Department of Environmental Science is committed to providing all students with an excellent educational and research experience that includes real-life environmental problem-solving and field and laboratory work using remote sensing, nanotechnology, ecology, environmental biotechnology, and chemistry tools. Looking at the present scenario and futuristic needs, the department has been established with the objectives:

  • To impart knowledge of environmental problems on a regional and global scale.
  • To train the students in scientific analysis of environmental components for efficient environmental decision-making and management.
  • To act as an interface between academia and organization for interdisciplinary collaboration for environmental research.

1. To create a researcher focused on interdisciplinary socio-ecological issues and the application of sustainable approaches for addressing environmental concerns and challenges

2. To train and provide hands-on training to students in modern tools and techniques to address environmental issues.
